TAWN has been around since the Summer of 1987, guided by consensus. Decisions are reached openly after considerations of suggestions from Members at an open meeting. We're incorporated in the state of Arizona, and operate under our Articles of Incorporation, By-Laws, and Code of Ethics. November 1996 saw our recognition by the State of Arizona as a non-profit educational corporation. We were recognized as a 501-(c)-4 by non-profit organization by the IRS in 1997. In the Fall of 2003 TAW received 501(c)3 status from the IRS as an educational and religious non-profit organization. Any donations to TAWN are now tax deductible. TAWN has several goals.....
A centerpiece of our commitment to dispel misconceptions about Wicca is our ongoing series of open-to-the-public classes exploring a wide variety of Neo-pagan paths and skills and interests. Seasonal rituals led by various member (individual and group) give other members and the general public an experience of the variety of new-Paganism practiced in the Tucson area. The TAWN Information Line alerts members to events occurring between Cauldron lucks and issues of our newsletter Tapestry. The TAWN Information Line with messages about upcoming events is at (520) 792-6440. A directory helps us network among ourselves. We also reach out nationwide to communicate with other Wiccan and Pagan organizations. TAWN members have worked hard to make (and keep) Tucson a safe place to come out of the broom closet, and take due pride in the accomplishment. The Wiccan Rede, paraphrased, that is "if you harm none, do as
you will." is a rule that is positive and life affirming. There seems
to be an aspect of this simple quote in ALL Neo-Pagan paths
whether or not they are Wiccan in origin. We ask that those that seek membership
in TAWN at least hold to this life affirming and positive rede in whatever path
they choose to follow. |
