Meeting was called to order at 11:06 by Arlene.    Total present were 17 at the opening blessing, and 22 at the closing.

 Arlene:

Gave the opening blessing.

 Arlene:

Released the Moon School as the teacher (Brandyn) was absent today.

 Arlene:

Discussed Fall Fest.  She first asked for volunteers to run Fall Fest 21, as our former volunteer stepped back down, and when there were none she announced that the Board would have to fill in.  She suggested “TAWN Coming of Age” as the theme, and asked for others to make suggestions to a Board member at or before the next Cauldronluck.

Oak:

Was not present, so Arlene reported on Open Rituals in his absence.  Here is the current schedule of Sabbats, dates, and contact people:

02/03/08 Imbolc – (4:00-5:00 PM) Tissha in the Himmel Park Library
03/16/08 Ostara – might be open
05/04/08 Beltane - open
06/22/08 Midsummer - Troth (Norse) contact person Dennis Ford
08/03/08 Lughnassadh - open
09/20/08 Mabon - Druid Sonoran Sunrise Grove ADF, contact person Nora Ford
10/26/08 Samhain - Raya & friends

The standard time and place is 3:00 pm on the date announced, at Hippie Hill in Himmel Park, but facilitators are free to change this provided TAWN has enough notice to change publicity announcements.  Beltane and Lughnassadh are currently available for anyone looking to facilitate, although that is subject to change.  Ostara has a tentative volunteer, but has not been confirmed as of the Cauldronluck date.  Please contact Jim “Oak” Roker if you are interested in volunteering.

Morgan:

Reported as Treasurer that the current bank balance is $4151.79; she did not have all the details of the Treasury report with her but will happily answer questions by email.

Arlene:

Asked the membership about our Sweet Tomatoes fundraisers, which are now bringing in about $15.00 monthly.  They are currently set for the third Monday of each month; the next two are the 21st of January and the 18th of February.  If anyone has ideas about dates that would result in better participation they are asked to contact a Board member.

Arlene:

Discussed the Adult Education series.  These are scheduled for the first Sunday of each month, at 2:00 pm in the Himmel Park Meeting Room.  We currently have the room reserved through March, and we normally make a new reservation each month as the library only permits reservations three months in advance.  We are reserving the room from 2:00 to 5:00, but can reserve it from 1:00 to 5:00 if we want.  Our current classes set for the Practical Magic series are:

12/06/07: Shielding Why and How? (Arlene Davis) 5 people attended

01/06/08: The Kitchen Witch (Arlene Davis) 3 people attended

02/03/08: Ethics in Paganism (Dr. Shelly Rabinovitch)

03/02/08: Deity and Mediumship (Tissha Curran)

04/06/08: Ceremonial Magic (John George)

05/04/08: Meditation – Ways to focus and reenergize yourself

06/01/08: Healing self and others

07/06/08: Spell Craft

08/03/08: Divination (Morgan Canady)

09/07/08: Crafting tools

10/05/08: Altars and their purposes

11/02/08: open

12/07/08: open

As with the open rituals, if you are qualified and wish to teach a class for which there is not yet a teacher, please contact the Board.  We are very excited to be lucky enough to have Dr. Shelly Rabinovitch, an internationally known Pagan scholar and author, available and willing to teach our February class!

Arlene:

Spoke about the Moon School program.  Brandyn has Curriculum for elementary set for this year. We will need to publicize the themes for each month ahead of time: January is Imbolc/Bride, and February is Air.  Raven has volunteered to monitor the Teens and Tweens in a discussion group; themes and topic will be announced.

Arlene:

Told the membership about our current Outreach efforts.  We recently sent Cerridwen Johnson a Care package, containing batteries, yarn, and cards.  We asked her father, Rick Johnson, what she would like the most; he said the boil-in-bag meals and powdered Gatorade were highest on her list, but that she was also eager for letters from Tucson.  She has plenty of books, but ones about paganism are never wasted.  She also does not have a subscription to Tapestry, so she would enjoy getting some issues – even used ones!

Arlene:

Speaking of Tapestry, the next deadline is February 1st.  You can submit articles or ask questions by email at tawntapestry@comcast.net.

John George:

Reported that the Forum had been almost boring lately, with no flame wars and no one making inappropriate postings.  This was not, of course, a request for anyone to start acting out.

Announcements:

Patrick announced that the mail this month included two exchange publications, Water from the Pagan Educational Network and a newsletter from the Tucson Community Food Bank.  They were available at the Cauldronluck for anyone who wanted to browse them, and afterwards they were given to the Historian Ashleen O’Gaea.

Jacquie Mackenzie, of Wind Tree Ranch and the Summerlands Monastery, appealed to all present.  Due to financial problems, half of the ranch was sold years ago – but the buyers have not paid as they should and the issue is being resolved in court on January 22nd.  She asked all to focus that day on their obtaining an outcome – preferably a good one for the ranch, but more importantly just to close out this problem and stop paying legal fees.

Jacquie will also be hosting a Pampered Chef party soon at Carol Garr’s house; she will donate the profits to benefit TAWN.  Watch the TAWN Forum for the date and the time…

The next Board of Director’s meeting will be Wednesday, 02/06/08 at 7:30pm, and will be at Raya’s apartment.  Contact a Board member if you wish to attend, bring a chair if you do, and a photo ID is needed to enter the building.

Arlene:

Gave the closing blessing, and adjourned the meeting at 11:36 to introductions and networking.
